Beech House Vets had a small single consulting room branch at the back of the old post office on Tilt Lane in Cobham. Business was thriving so when the opportunity came up to take the lease on the whole ground floor, they jumped at the chance. Having worked with Cre8tive Space before on a couple of previous projects, Beech House Vets engaged with us early to create an amazing new veterinary practice.
Originally the village Post Office, the previous occupant had been using the premises as retail space and once they had vacated, the whole ground floor was stripped out back to a shell. New drainage was installed to serve new treatment areas, consulting rooms, prep area, operating theatre and staff break out space. New electrical installations, data, fire alarm, AC, flooring, acoustic treatments, partitions, doors and decorations were needed to divide the space to work effectively as a veterinary practice.
From the outset, it was felt that having dedicated areas for cats and dogs was a must. As the property boasts two separate front doors, there is a ‘moggy’ entrance and ‘doggy’ entrance which lead into the spacious reception and are separated by a retail display. Reception is a comfortable multi use area providing hot and cold drinks to clients, a retail experience to spoil their pets and a friendly and knowledgeable reception team to greet them on arrival. Dedicated doors lead from reception into separate cat and dog consulting rooms. Both of these rooms were designed with the animals in mind but also the vets. Cushioned flooring was installed to make vets more comfortable when treating animals on the floor. The cat consult room design included installing steps to enable vets to better diagnose arthritis.
Both consult rooms have direct access into a shared purpose built secure dispensary. Back of house, there is a fully equipped operating theatre with dedicated preparation area including scrub sink, dental tub table, nurse workspace – all with direct access to separate cat and dog wards with purpose built kennels and cattery. A laundry room caters for the practical day to day hygiene and a staff break out room offers somewhere for the team to take much needed time out. We are now in the process of fitting out the original space at the back: the consulting room is being converted into a laboratory and surgical kit preparation area whilst the reception area is becoming a digital imaging suite.
"Stevette Potts at Cre8tive Space is my go-to person to help advise on refurbishments to completely new fit-outs for my veterinary practices. She has real flair - both in design and project management - and helps to ensure we get the outcome we need, completed on time and budget.
She has great attention to detail with patience and understanding so that we can work collaboratively, fitting within the needs and requirements of our team. I can recommend Stevette and her team wholeheartedly."
